A questionnaire template is a list of questions used to build a survey or set of surveys. You can also think of it as a template for a certain type of assessment. Questionnaire templates are target-specific. Before you can create an assessment, you need to have at least one questionnaire template with the same target type as the assessment itself. For example, if you want to assess an application, then you need to have a questionnaire template that targets applications.
Although questionnaire templates are target-specific, the questions themselves are not. So you could use the same exact set of questions to build two different questionnaire templates with different target types. For example, you could create a NIST-CSF questionnaire template for units and another for applications using the same questions.
Only superusers can create, edit and delete questionnaire templates.
Questionnaire templates were previously referred to as question lists.
