You must be an assessment manager or a superuser to perform app assessment.
How to Assess an App- Old UI
- Before you can assess an application, the app must be in your inventory. See also: Tutorial: Add an App Into Inventory How-To: Add an Application to Inventory
- If you are a superuser: Check that you have an assessment series that targets applications. On the Settings page, click Assessments and view the Series area. Under the Target column, look for a series with App as the target. Remember the name of the assessment series you chose.

- If you are a superuser, check that you have a question list that targets apps. Still on the Settings, page, go to Question Configuration and choose Lists. Under the Target column, look for a question list with app as the target. Remember the name of the question list you chose. - Go to the Assessment page and click the New Assessment button. Fill in the fields. When you choose “App” as the Target, the following fields will alter and offer you choices that are relevant to app assessment. Choose the series and question list you chose, and start typing in the app name to search existing apps that belong to your OU. Choose an expiration date and click Save.
- Refresh the page if needed. You should see the new app assessment showing up on the list of open assessments. Click the name of the series to expand it.
- Click the Launch Survey button to start the assessment.
- Choose the classification for the app based on the data it has access to and click Lock. Then click the “In Progress” link to answer the questions for the app.
- Answer the questions and either lock each one individually, or use the Lock All button at the top.
- The Acknowledge button pops up. Click it to indicate the questions portion of the survey has been completed satisfactorily.
- Back on the Assessment page, the survey now shows as prefinal acknowledge, awaiting final acknowledgement. Click the Acknowledge button again to complete the assessment.
- The assessment shows up as completed. Next time you visit the Open Assessments page, this assessment won’t show up. To view the report, click on the Complete tab.
- Locate the assessment and click the View Report button to access the results.
- To print off a copy of the report, use your browser’s Print function. To view individual questions and answers, click on Answer Details.
- You can also download a CSV of the questions and answers.
How to Assess an Application- New UI
To assess an application, from the Assessments page:
- Click the New Assessment button (it doesn’t matter which assessment methodology is currently active).
- Choose application.
- At this point, you can select an existing application, or click the +Add Application button to add a new one.
- If you select an application which was previously assessed, you have the option to renew a previous assessment. If you choose to do this, the options for the rest of the wizard screens will be filled in automatically and you will just need to assign a new name and due date.
- Assign a name, choose an existing series, and due date. Then choose an existing Instructions template or create a new one. When all fields are complete, click the Next Step button.

- On the next step, choose a questionnaire template from the drop-down, then click Next Step.

- The next step shows you the current metadata for the selected application. Currently, all application assessments include application enrichment. In the future, there will be additional options on this step. Click Next Step.

- On the final step of the wizard, you have an opportunity to review everything and make changes if needed. You can also use the wizard navigation at the top to go back to any previous step. Click the Launch button to launch the survey now. If you instead click Publish, everything is saved and you or an assessment manager can launch it later, but no changes can be made once published or launched.
- On the Assessments page, you can navigate to Applications and expand the series to locate the new assessment you just created. Click on its name to access the survey itself.
