Users: How to Add Asset (Host) Inventory

2 min read

Sometimes ordinary users are requested to add information about assets they are responsible for into Isora GRC. These assets can then be part of an assessment.

Anyone with a user account can add assets into Isora GRC’s inventory.

💡
Assets are referred to as hosts in the old UI. They are typically network-based computing resources, but in reality an asset could be any object you are tracking in Isora GRC. They are typically objects like servers, laptops, desktop computers, virtual machines, shared network drives, printers, mobile devices and the like.

To add asset (host) inventory to Isora GRC, follow the steps outlined:

  1. Log into Isora GRC.
  1. Go to the Inventory page and the Assets/ Hosts tab. (If you’re on the new UI, the Assets tab will forward you to the Hosts tab in the old UI.)

  1. If you don’t have an existing sheet to use, click the New Sheet button.

  1. Enter the code for the owning unit and assign a name to the sheet, then click Create.

  1. The sheet automatically opens for editing.
  1. If you need to add to an existing sheet, click the name of the sheet in the list on the Hosts tab of the Inventory page.

  1. In the page to edit or view the sheet, you can use a button to upload a CSV containing information about multiple hosts. Or you can add individual hosts, one at a time.
  1. To add a single host, click the Add Host+ button. Then fill out the information on the page and click “Save” at the end. You should also add yourself as a User, Owner and/or IT Contacts entry if you’re adding a system that you are responsible for, otherwise you won’t be considered a host delegate and you won’t be able to answer host categorization questions for that host.

  1. Because there are so many fields, if you wish to upload multiple systems using a CSV, it is recommended to first download the CSV template.
